When I was in San Francisco a few weeks ago, I visited a hip pub called Martuni's. It was a piano and martini bar with a handsome “old school” interior – dark woods, low lighting, velvety walls and very intimate. As a friend and I were sipping our fruity-flavored martinis and conversing about our lives, a beautiful Latina woman approached us. We met her earlier that evening. A few minutes later, a discussion about fragrances consumed us. She mentioned that some scents bother her since they did not match her body type. She was mainly attracted to clean scents. After this pleasurable conversation, I wondered which fragrance would be best for her. Then, I suddenly thought of it. The perfect perfume for this woman would be Laila by Geir Ness. The origins of Laila began when Mr. Ness was a fragrance model. As he was modeling, he was frequently asked if there was a fragrance inspired by his homeland, Norway. This inspired him to create one. According to Laila.com, “In time, Geir found a perfumer who advised him to begin his search by finding ingredients he liked. Of course, Norwegian wildflowers were the first thing that came to mind. He remembered that wonderful childhood experience when he would go to the mountains. He gathered flowers and herbs and brought them to the perfumer to create an oil that captured their true scent.” After his research and some marketing tests, Laila, the essence of Norway, was launched.
“An exhilarating blend of natural oils, Laila is an infusion of Norwegian mountain wildflowers with just a touch of fruit inflections including watermelon. With no synthetic additives, it mixes with the skin's own oils to remain fresh all day without turning or fading,” according to the perfumer's web site. Laila, which is named after Geir Ness's mother, is a fresh floral that features wild flowers with hints of watermelon.
So, what are my true thoughts about Mr. Ness's perfume? The first word that comes into my mind about this fragrance is fresh. This fragrance reminds me of fresh clean air that is lightly perfumed by a sea of delicate fragrant flowers. As matter of fact, I let the scent dried on a perfume testing paper for about a couple of weeks. I recently sniffed the test paper, and it still smelled very fresh and clean. Of course, I was amazed by this trait. It is the
perfect day time fragrance for spring or summer. Ladies, if you like a clean floral scent, I highly recommend that you add Laila to your fragrance wardrobe.Laila is available as a 1.7 oz Eau de Parfum Spray for $53.00 and a 3.4. oz Eau de Parfum Spray for $73.00. Its collection also includes a
special-edition 1.7 oz Pure Parfum Spray for $95.00. If you purchase this edition, 10% of the retail price will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. This organization funds breast cancer research. It is helping to find a cure for this devastating disease.Laila by Geir Ness can be purchased at laila.com, Nordstrom and fine online perfumeries.
